Jack Grealish urged to reject Everton return for Tottenham or Newcastle move

Jack Grealish has been urged to consider Tottenham, Newcastle United or Crystal Palace instead of returning to Everton as uncertainty continues over his Manchester City future.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Everton before returning to City when that agreement expired in June.

Everton are interested in bringing him back and reportedly believe Grealish would also welcome another spell with the club.

However, former England international Chris Waddle believes the winger should consider a different destination where he can be guaranteed regular first-team football.

Grealish appears to have overcome his recent fitness problems after being named among Manchester City's substitutes for the Community Shield against Arsenal.

However, his long-term position at the Etihad remains uncertain.

He has only one year remaining on his City contract, which is reportedly worth more than £350,000 per week.

Given those wages, another loan could be the most realistic route out of Manchester this summer.

Everton would be familiar territory after Grealish's season on Merseyside, but Waddle believes there are better alternatives available.

Waddle named Tottenham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace as clubs he believes would suit Grealish.

“I think a club like Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur or Crystal Palace suits him best now,” he said.

His argument centres around playing time.

Despite winning major trophies at Manchester City, Waddle believes Grealish has never established himself as one of the club's indispensable players.

He now wants to see the England international join a club where he would immediately become an important member of the starting XI.

“He just needs to play,” Waddle added. “Now he needs to go to another club where he can play football, not waste his best years sitting on the bench.”

Waddle nevertheless acknowledged that Grealish's spell with Everton had positives.

The supporters took to the winger and he provided additional balance to the team, meaning another season at the club remains a possibility.

Everton's interest is genuine, while there is also believed to be some willingness from Grealish to return.

The question is whether another opportunity emerges before the transfer deadline that gives him a more attractive route away from Manchester City.

Everton are expected to remain interested as they explore the possibility of bringing Grealish back for the new season.

However, his future could depend on whether Tottenham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace or another club turns potential interest into a concrete approach before the transfer deadline.

For Grealish, the priority appears increasingly clear: finding a club where regular first-team football is available.
