Nottingham Forest have been informed of the conditions required to sign Davide Frattesi, with Inter Milan holding firm on a €35m valuation despite being open to a structured deal.

Earlier this month, respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed Nottingham Forest had made contact with Inter to discuss Frattesi’s availability, following previous interest from Newcastle United. Since then, the situation had gone quiet — but Corriere dello Sport have now brought Forest back into the conversation.

Inter lay out their terms

According to the Italian newspaper, Forest — now under Sean Dyche — made an initial enquiry about the Italy international. Inter’s response was clear and decisive.

The Nerazzurri quoted a price of €35m and showed little willingness to negotiate on valuation. However, they were prepared to help Forest structure a deal by allowing a loan with an obligation to buy, a model increasingly used to bridge financial gaps in January.

Inter were also reported to have explored the idea of including Dan Ndoye as part of the deal. That proposal was quickly dismissed by those at the City Ground, who prefer a clean, cash-only transaction.

Ndoye repeatedly dragged into Italian narratives

Ndoye’s name continues to surface in Italian transfer reporting. The winger remains of interest to several Serie A clubs, both in January and ahead of the summer window.

Italian media have not forgotten his decision to join Nottingham Forest instead of Napoli in the previous window, and his potential return to Italy has since become something of an ongoing storyline — even when not directly relevant to negotiations.

Forest, however, have no intention of using Ndoye as leverage in talks for Frattesi.

Forest step back — for now

At present, Nottingham Forest have cooled their interest. That does not necessarily signal the end of the saga, but rather a calculated pause.

Inter remain open to moving Frattesi on, particularly given his reduced role under Cristian Chivu. The 26-year-old has managed just 542 minutes across all competitions this season, a sharp drop for a player who had previously been a regular contributor.

Frattesi has been an important figure for Italy in recent years, often delivering decisive goals. His lack of playing time now risks damaging his standing ahead of the World Cup, making a move away from Inter increasingly attractive.

Market still developing

Galatasaray have been mentioned as a potential suitor in recent days, but no concrete progress has been made. For Forest, patience appears to be the strategy.

The €35m valuation is widely viewed as inflated, particularly given Frattesi’s limited minutes. Nottingham Forest are aware that time — and the player’s frustration — could work in their favour later in the window.

Key insights

  • Inter value Davide Frattesi at €35m
  • Loan with obligation is an option on the table
  • Nottingham Forest rejected including Dan Ndoye
  • Frattesi’s role has diminished under Chivu
  • Forest are waiting, believing the price may drop

What’s next?

If Frattesi pushes harder for an exit, Inter may be forced to soften their stance. For now, Nottingham Forest are content to wait, monitor developments and reassess if conditions become more favourable.

Should Nottingham Forest return for Davide Frattesi later in the window — or is €35m simply too high a price to justify?
