Illia Zabarnyi has liked Fabrizio Romano’s post confirming PSG are closing in on a deal. Bournemouth defender has already agreed personal terms.

Illia Zabarnyi may have just dropped the clearest sign yet that he’s ready to leave Bournemouth, after liking a post from Fabrizio Romano suggesting PSG are close to finalising his transfer.

The 22-year-old has become a core part of Andoni Iraola’s defence since arriving in 2023, but his future at the Vitality Stadium is now under serious doubt — with Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain both interested this summer.

And if his social media activity is anything to go by, the Ukraine international may already be making his mind up.

Zabarnyi Responds to Romano’s Update on PSG Move

Romano reported this week that PSG are closing in on Zabarnyi after holding positive talks with Bournemouth. The French champions are said to have agreed personal terms with the player, with only final negotiations remaining over the structure of the deal.

Zabarnyi, notably, liked Romano’s post on X (formerly Twitter) — adding further fuel to speculation that his time in the Premier League is drawing to a close.

Bournemouth’s Defensive Exodus Continues

Zabarnyi could become the latest name to leave Bournemouth this summer. Milos Kerkez has already joined Liverpool, while Dean Huijsen returned to Spain with Real Madrid. There is growing concern among fans that Iraola’s backline is being dismantled just as progress was being made.

Bournemouth lost 4–1 to Manchester United in their recent US tour game — and Zabarnyi’s absence in the reshuffled defence was clear.

Tottenham Set to Miss Out Again

Spurs had been tracking Zabarnyi closely and were prepared to pay close to £60 million, as reported by Football Insider. But just like their pursuit of Marc Guehi — who is now expected to join Liverpool — they appear to have lost ground late in the race.

Thomas Frank is keen to bring in a commanding centre-back, but Zabarnyi’s move to PSG now looks highly advanced, making it another setback for the North London club.

Analyst Verdict

Losing Zabarnyi would be a huge blow for Bournemouth. The Ukrainian has matured into one of the most reliable young defenders in the Premier League, combining strong defensive metrics with consistency and calmness under pressure.

For PSG, this would be a statement signing — addressing their centre-back depth while also weakening an English rival ahead of the Champions League.

For Spurs, it’s yet another case of coming close but not closing the deal.

Key Takeaways

What’s Next for Zabarnyi and Bournemouth?

Final talks are ongoing between Bournemouth and PSG over how the deal will be structured — including bonuses and instalments. With Zabarnyi already on board, the deal could be wrapped up in the coming days.

For Bournemouth, the focus must now shift to replacing yet another defensive starter, as Andoni Iraola looks to keep their upward momentum heading into 2025/26.

Should Bournemouth cash in now — or fight to keep Zabarnyi for one more season?

Bournemouth is in a very big trouble if they dont replace that backline. they've sold unbelievable good players, but not much happening right now tbh.
