Igor Thiago has committed his long-term future to Brentford by signing a new five-year contract, ending speculation linking him with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Brazilian striker, who has scored 17 Premier League goals this season, will now remain at the Gtech Community Stadium until the summer of 2031. Brentford also confirmed they hold the option to extend the deal by a further year.

Thiago’s form has been central to Brentford’s push into the top half of the table. Only Erling Haaland has scored more league goals this season, underlining the scale of his impact.
Interest from Tottenham had intensified in recent weeks, but Brentford have acted decisively to secure his future.
“I love the club and the people in the club,” Thiago said. “It’s a true love, a real love. When the fans support me, and I see them singing my name and singing my song, it gives me more power.
“It has been a great season for us. Everybody has been on the same page. I hope we can get something special from it.”
Brentford’s evolution under Keith Andrews
Having endured two serious knee injuries during his debut campaign, Thiago’s resurgence this season has been striking. Under Keith Andrews, he has spearheaded a Brentford side that now sits seventh in the Premier League.
This progress is particularly notable given the upheaval last summer, when the club lost captain Christian Norgaard, top scorers Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, as well as manager Thomas Frank.
Andrews praised the striker’s commitment and development.
“It’s brilliant that Thiago has committed his long-term future to the club,” he said.
“The connection that he has with his team-mates, the staff and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and he means to us, is pretty evident for everybody to see.
“I love working with him and I’ve loved seeing his evolution as a player. How he plays is such a big part of how we play and what our season has been so far.”
Stability amid growing ambition
Brentford’s recent 1-1 draw with league leaders Arsenal highlighted their competitiveness, and securing Thiago reinforces that upward trajectory.
It remains too early to predict whether Brentford can maintain their European push, but tying down their leading scorer sends a clear message of intent.
