Harry Wilson injury update as Marco Silva speaks before West Ham clash

Fulham are sweating on the fitness of Harry Wilson after the forward was forced off during their recent Premier League win over Nottingham Forest, with Marco Silva offering a cautiously optimistic update ahead of this weekend’s clash with West Ham.

Wilson has been one of Fulham’s standout performers in recent weeks and was key again before being substituted late on, raising concerns over his availability for the trip to the London Stadium.

The Welsh international appeared to injure his knee during the second half against Nottingham Forest. Wilson required on-field treatment and attempted to continue, but was eventually replaced by Adama Traoré in the 84th minute.

Despite the initial worry, Fulham head coach Marco Silva played down fears of a serious issue after the match.

“It looks like he's going to be OK,” Silva said. “I think it was like a big knock there, it was not something that he twisted but now it’s, of course, painful.

“But let’s see, tomorrow we have a session, we are going to assess the players from tonight and see how he’s going to heal.”

Wilson’s importance to Fulham cannot be overstated. The forward has been directly involved in six goals across his last five Premier League matches and has five goals and three assists from 14 league starts overall this season.

Fulham’s recent upturn in form — four wins from their last seven matches in all competitions — has coincided with Wilson hitting top gear, making his fitness a major talking point ahead of the weekend.

Fulham currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, having climbed above Tottenham Hotspur following their recent results.

In contrast, West Ham United head into the fixture under pressure, having slipped to 18th and struggling for consistency.

Silva will be hopeful Wilson’s issue proves to be nothing more than bruising, giving him another attacking boost as Fulham look to continue their momentum against a side fighting for survival.

Wilson will be assessed in training this week, with Fulham expected to make a late call on his availability for Saturday’s London derby.

If he is cleared to play, Silva is likely to retain Wilson in his starting XI given his form. Should he miss out, Fulham may need to reshuffle their attacking options — though confidence remains high that the injury is minor.
