Genoa are weighing up moves for Evan Ferguson and Daniel Jebbison as the Serie A side step up their search for a new striker ahead of the start of the season.

Head coach Daniele De Rossi is eager to add a recognised centre-forward before Genoa begin their campaign in just over a week's time, with the club assessing a number of options from the Premier League.

Both Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth could therefore find themselves involved in the Italian club's striker search.

Ferguson remains a loan option

Brighton's Evan Ferguson has once again emerged as a potential target after returning to the Amex Stadium following an unsuccessful loan spell at Roma.

The Republic of Ireland international is not currently expected to play a major role under Brighton this season, making another temporary move a realistic possibility.

Genoa would be open to signing the 21-year-old on loan, although reports suggest the club view him as a familiar option after his previous spell in Serie A.

Despite that, Ferguson remains firmly on their shortlist.

Jebbison catches Genoa's attention

Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison has also moved into contention after impressing Genoa during the clubs' recent pre-season meeting.

The Cherries ran out emphatic 10-1 winners on 4 August, with Jebbison getting on the scoresheet in a performance that reportedly caught the attention of Genoa's recruitment staff.

The 22-year-old has become a more intriguing option following Bournemouth's recent squad developments.

Bournemouth face decision

Any move for Jebbison could depend on Bournemouth's own transfer plans.

The Cherries are already without the injured Eli Junior Kroupi, while Enes Unal is expected to return to Getafe.

Although Bournemouth signed Alvaro Rodriguez earlier this summer, Jebbison is currently expected to provide valuable attacking depth unless further reinforcements arrive before the transfer window closes.

That uncertainty may complicate Genoa's hopes of securing a deal.

Key Points

  • Genoa are searching for a new striker before the Serie A season begins.
  • Evan Ferguson is a loan option after returning to Brighton.
  • Daniel Jebbison impressed Genoa during Bournemouth's recent 10-1 friendly victory.
  • Bournemouth may be reluctant to lose another striker after recent squad changes.
  • Daniele De Rossi wants a new forward signed within the next 10 days.

What Happens Next

Genoa are expected to narrow down their shortlist before making a formal approach for a new striker. Ferguson and Jebbison remain under consideration, although Bournemouth's willingness to negotiate and Brighton's plans for Ferguson are likely to determine which deal, if either, becomes achievable.
