Alejandro Garnacho has urged Chelsea to deliver a victory away at Fulham, insisting the supporters deserve a positive response as the Blues look to build on their hard-earned draw at Manchester City.

The 21-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Manchester United at the start of the 2025/26 season, has wasted little time settling into life in west London. Garnacho has already made 20 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and three assists during his first half-season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea reached the midway point of the campaign with Sunday’s 1-1 draw away at Manchester City, and Garnacho believes that result can provide momentum heading into Thursday night’s London derby at Craven Cottage.

“I know the player I am”

Reflecting on his adaptation to a new club and environment, Garnacho highlighted the importance of self-belief, consistency and the support of those around him.

“I know the player I am and the player I can be, so this is the most important thing,” he said. “I’m working every day, really hard. I think with time, everything is going to be good, but now the thing is to work every day and try to do the best on the pitch for the team and win games.”

The Argentine also pointed to the dressing-room environment at Chelsea, where familiar voices have helped him settle quickly.

“People are helping me a lot. A lot of people speak Spanish here, so they help. I’m really happy to be part of this club and keep working and keep playing.”

Enzo Fernández influence

A key figure in Garnacho’s transition has been fellow Argentine Enzo Fernández, who wears the vice-captain’s armband at Chelsea.

“With Enzo, for me it’s like having my big brother here,” Garnacho explained. “He’s helping me a lot — in training, in games. When I’m at home, he texts me, ‘How are you?’

“I know him from the national team and I spoke with him during the summer before the move. I’m happy to have a player and a captain like him here.”

Team success comes first

While Garnacho is confident his goal output will improve, he stressed that results remain the priority.

“The main focus is to win games. Sometimes you’re going to score goals, assist your team-mates, but the important thing is to help. “I know that I can score a lot of goals. I miss chances also, but this is normal. I’m still young — it’s part of football.”

Fulham test under interim setup

Chelsea travel to Fulham with Liam Rosenior set to officially begin work with the squad on Thursday. For tonight’s match, Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane will remain in charge on the touchline.

Despite the challenge, Garnacho believes Chelsea owe the travelling support a response.

“We know Fulham and we know away games in the Premier League are always hard,” he said. “The fans deserve the three points after a difficult couple of weeks.

“To take a point at the Etihad is one of the hardest things to do. We’ll go to Fulham and try to get the three points because it’s what this club demands.”
