Marco Silva has revealed a mounting injury list at Fulham ahead of their trip to St James’ Park this weekend, with Harry Wilson a fresh doubt after missing training this week.

The Fulham boss described the situation as the “worst run of injuries” since he joined the club, with seven first-team players either sidelined or being monitored before Saturday’s clash against in-form Newcastle United.

Wilson has been carrying a knock picked up on international duty and featured for 82 minutes in last weekend’s 1–0 defeat to Arsenal. However, the winger has not trained since and remains doubtful for the weekend.

Harry Wilson a doubt for Newcastle trip

“Wilson is a doubt, let’s see. He didn’t train the last two days. He got a knock in the national team, made it against Arsenal. Nothing really serious, but we’ll see tomorrow how he feels.” — Marco Silva

Silva confirmed that while Wilson’s issue is not serious, a final decision will depend on how he reacts in training on Friday. The Portuguese coach admitted it was another setback in what has been a difficult period for squad fitness.

Fulham are already without Rodrigo Muniz (hamstring), Antonee Robinson (knee), and Samuel Chukwueze (calf), with no clear return dates for the latter two.

Centre-back Joachim Andersen, who came off injured against Arsenal, will also miss the trip to Tyneside with a hamstring strain, though Silva played down its severity.

Late fitness boosts for Lukic and Tete

There is, however, some positive news. Sasa Lukic and Kenny Tete could both be involved after returning to training this week. Lukic missed the Arsenal defeat with a groin problem but has made faster progress than expected, while Tete, who was on the bench last weekend, is close to full fitness.

“The response from Sasa has been very good; he takes care of himself. If he feels well, he will be in contention,” Silva said. “Kenny has had a good week and will also be in contention.”

Silva’s updates mean Fulham will make the trip north potentially without five regular starters — a challenge as they look to secure their first Premier League points in over a month.

Silva wary of Newcastle challenge

Fulham face a Newcastle side buoyed by a 3–0 Champions League win over Benfica. Silva knows the test that awaits at St James’ Park, calling it a “beautiful but tough” place to play and warning his team to match Newcastle’s intensity.

“We recognise their quality; it’s going to be a challenge for us,” Silva said. “They have the 12th man — the fans — and we’ll have to be at our best to get something.”

The Cottagers beat Newcastle away last season thanks to a late comeback, and Silva hopes his depleted side can summon similar resilience this time around.

Our View

In our view, Fulham’s injury list couldn’t have come at a worse time. Facing an energetic Newcastle side away from home requires a fully fit squad, and Silva’s options in attack and defence are heavily stretched. However, the possible returns of Lukic and Tete offer a timely boost for a team still fighting for rhythm and confidence.

Wilson’s availability could be decisive — his creativity and delivery remain vital to Fulham’s counter-attacking threat. Without him, Silva may rely more heavily on Iwobi and King to carry the offensive load.

Analyst Verdict

FootballPlace analyst Liam Rowe writes:
I think Silva’s frustration is understandable — this is the toughest injury spell of his Fulham tenure. The loss of both Andersen and Robinson destabilises the back line, while Wilson’s absence removes a key transition outlet.

We believe Fulham’s depth will be tested, but Silva’s tactical adaptability — especially his use of inverted wingers and compact mid-blocks — could still frustrate Newcastle. A draw here would be a major success.

What’s Next

Fulham visit Newcastle on 25 October 2025, aiming to end a four-game winless run in the Premier League. After that, they face a quick turnaround with an away fixture against Wycombe on 28 October — for the Carabao Cup.

For Silva, the immediate priority is recovery and rotation. If his key men can return in time, Fulham’s fortunes could quickly turn.
