Fulham are preparing to step up contract talks with Harry Wilson as they move to secure one of Marco Silva’s most influential players amid growing Premier League interest.
The Wales international is out of contract in the summer and has been attracting attention from rival clubs after producing the most consistent season of his Fulham career. The club rebuffed a January approach from Everton and made it clear there was no appetite to sell mid-season, with Silva insisting there was “zero chance” of Wilson leaving during the window.
Now, with Fulham’s focus shifting beyond deadline day, negotiations are set to resume in earnest.
Fulham push to secure Wilson future after January stance
Harry Wilson has been central to Fulham’s momentum this season, registering a career-best eight Premier League goals and continuing to deliver in decisive moments.
Contract discussions have been ongoing for several months, but uncertainty around Marco Silva’s own future — with the head coach also out of contract this summer — has fuelled speculation that Wilson may be waiting for clarity before committing.
Internally, however, Fulham maintain the two situations are not formally linked.
“He has been very important for us, is showing his quality again and let’s hope we can renew,” Silva said in December, underlining the club’s intent.
Player loyalty tested as interest builds
Wilson’s importance to Silva runs deeper than numbers. He was the Portuguese coach’s first signing at Fulham and has evolved into a core figure at Craven Cottage after early-career struggles to settle elsewhere.
Last summer, Wilson came close to a Deadline Day move to Leeds before a late U-turn kept him in west London — a decision that has since been vindicated by his form.
Speaking late last year, Wilson made clear how much stability now matters to him.
“Fulham is somewhere I wanted to call home,” he said. “For the last four-and-a-half years, it’s somewhere I’ve been really, really happy.”
That sentiment has not gone unnoticed by the club hierarchy.
Contract strategy gives Fulham confidence
Fulham have already demonstrated a willingness to reward key contributors, tying down Rodrigo Muniz, Kenny Tete, Tom Cairney and academy graduate Josh King to new deals this season.
The January addition of Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb has further signalled ambition, while Fulham’s improved form has strengthened belief internally that Wilson can be convinced to stay.
There is also an awareness of the stakes. If Wilson were to run down his contract, he would have no shortage of suitors — particularly if he impresses at the World Cup with Wales should they navigate the play-offs.
Why this moment matters
For Fulham, this is about more than retaining a productive midfielder. Allowing a player of Wilson’s influence to drift toward free agency would undermine the stability Silva has worked to build.
The club’s decision to reject January interest was a clear statement. The next step is turning that stance into a signature.
What’s next
Talks are expected to intensify over the coming weeks as Fulham look to resolve Wilson’s future before the season reaches its decisive phase. With both sides publicly aligned in tone, there is cautious optimism that an agreement can be reached — but time, and leverage, will soon come into play.
