Rasmus Højlund's time at Manchester United is under growing scrutiny as the club remains undecided on his future. Despite being their first-choice striker since arriving from Atalanta in 2023, the Danish forward has not consistently delivered in front of goal.
So far this season, Højlund has scored 8 goals across all competitions, while providing only 2 assists. Although he’s shown promise—particularly in European competitions—his performances in the Premier League have raised questions.
According to journalist David Ornstein, the club is yet to finalize its stance on whether to keep or move on from the 21-year-old forward.
“I do not think a firm decision has been made yet. Certainly, I do not know of any significant work being done to move him on, but obviously, that can change in the coming weeks – so it’s probably too early to say with any certainty,” Ornstein revealed.
He also addressed the financial implications of a potential transfer:
“Selling Højlund now would almost certainly represent an accounting loss (plus I presume Man Utd still have instalments to pay on the original transfer), so how possible even is it to sell him within their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) parameters?”
Transfer Market Activity
Manchester United are actively looking for a new striker, with two key targets reportedly on their radar.
Liam Delap – The England youth international has impressed at Ipswich Town and United are believed to be favourites to sign him.
Benjamin Sesko – The RB Leipzig forward remains a long-term target, and the club is monitoring his situation closely.
To fund any new signings, United may be open to selling Højlund, who is reportedly valued at £52 million. Meanwhile, Napoli and Juventus have both expressed interest in bringing him back to Serie A.
Rasmus Højlund – Manchester United Stats (2023–2025)
Here is a breakdown of Højlund's performance since joining Manchester United:
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Expected Goals (xG) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premier League | 49 | 5 | 0 | 5.0 |
| Europa League | 15 | 10 | 2 | 5.7 |
| Domestic Cups | 15 | 5 | 0 | 3.2 |
| Total | 79 | 20 | 2 | 13.9 |
While Højlund has demonstrated flashes of his talent—particularly in Europe—his overall impact has been underwhelming for a club with high ambitions. Whether Manchester United decide to persist with the young Dane or move forward with a new signing could define their summer transfer strategy.

Pretty much unacceptable. For how much did he came to United? Didn't deliver at all, doesn't look like he's going to. Actually this whole United team is out of balance, maybe he should get another year to prove hisself with players around him that's worth playing for United.
