Tuchel Liverpool Chelsea 2025 Club World Cup headlines are gaining attention after the England boss claimed Chelsea and Manchester City are at a serious disadvantage next season. The reason? Fixture congestion from the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Liverpool, who won't feature in the tournament, will have a rare summer break — something Tuchel believes could be a pivotal factor in the 2025/26 Premier League title race. With Arsenal also spared from the US trip, Tuchel says the scheduling creates a level playing field tilted away from the Blues and Citizens.
The Club World Cup final is set for July 13 in New York, when most Premier League clubs will be resuming pre-season training. Yet Chelsea and Manchester City players will still be competing at international level — and Tuchel knows the toll that could take.
Tuchel’s Club World Cup Warning
Tuchel Liverpool Chelsea 2025 Club World Cup imbalance “will have a huge impact and give Liverpool and Arsenal a huge advantage next season,” said the England boss.
Liverpool & Arsenal’s Summer Rest Could Tip the Balance
Thomas Tuchel sees Liverpool and Arsenal entering the 2025/26 season in a “stronger physical and mental place” than Chelsea and City, due to a full summer of rest and tactical prep.
“The players need a proper rest somewhere in this calendar — which they hardly get,” Tuchel said.
With no Club World Cup commitments, Liverpool’s squad is expected to report fresh to Melwood, while Arsenal are finalising a less intense pre-season abroad.
Why Chelsea & City Face a Gruelling Summer
Tuchel confirmed Chelsea and City players involved with England will fly directly to the US after Tuesday’s international friendly with Senegal. That means no holiday — just more football.
The Club World Cup’s overlap with pre-season could disrupt recovery and preparation, something Tuchel addressed directly:
“Some players feel more tired after one or two weeks of holiday than they did at the end of the season… but they’re all hungry to play.”

What’s Next for Chelsea’s 2025/26 Campaign?

I disagree because we've a good dept as a squad - we will be contenders next season even if we play in the Club World Cup
