Cristian Romero Tottenham transfer 2025 chatter is heating up — and Thomas Frank has a decision to make.

With Spurs under new management and aiming for a Champions League reset, Romero’s long-term role is in doubt. Despite his quality, the Argentine centre-back continues to cause friction — both publicly and privately.

“You have to realise something is going wrong… Hopefully they realise who the true responsible ones are.” — Cristian Romero

Frank needs authority. That might mean cutting loose even his best names — starting with Romero.

Romero’s Spurs Future Is Tied to the Past

Cristian Romero has talent. But in three seasons at Tottenham, consistency and discipline have often been missing.

He’s admitted publicly he dreams of playing in La Liga — while also criticising Spurs’ transfer policy. For Thomas Frank, a fresh voice at the helm, that’s a problem.

Selling Romero could represent a clean break — and crucial financial firepower.

Guehi the Ideal Replacement?

Tottenham have long admired Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace defender is quick, composed, and a vocal leader — everything Spurs need at the back.

With Guehi likely to cost £60m+, selling Romero might be the only way to fund the move.

  • Spurs can demand £60m+
  • That figure could fund a bid for Guehi
  • Guehi offers lower risk and Premier League readiness

What’s Next?

Spurs face a big decision. Romero’s value may never be higher.

If Frank is serious about rebuilding his backline and culture, selling now and moving for Guehi could be the first power move of a new era.

Should Thomas Frank cash in on Cristian Romero and go all-in for Guehi?

Romero once fit is top 5 defender in the PL - I dont see Guehi with all respect coming close to him. But you dont want to hold players that dont want to play for your club.. Though decision to make for Spurs
