Liverpool are continuing to monitor Brentford defender Nathan Collins, according to Givemesport but a move looks increasingly unlikely with the West London club unwilling to entertain offers for one of their key players.

The 24-year-old was signed from Wolves for £23 million in 2023 and has quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the Brentford defence. Now, with four years left on his deal and the club showing no interest in letting him go, Liverpool’s interest is considered long-term and tentative.

Why Liverpool Like Nathan Collins

Collins is admired internally at Anfield for his mix of Premier League experience, aerial dominance and calm presence in possession. Sources close to Liverpool’s recruitment department say the Republic of Ireland international fits the modern defensive profile the club are targeting in future windows.

“Collins is composed, commanding, and Premier League-proven — he ticks all the right boxes,” said a recruitment source. — Internal Club Contact

However, no bid has been submitted, and Brentford have made their stance clear: Collins is not for sale.

Brentford See Collins as Untouchable

Since joining Brentford, Collins has become one of the most important figures at the club — earning the captain's armband under new management and ranking among the top performers in several key defensive metrics.

He made 33 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, finishing the season as Brentford’s most-used player in terms of minutes played.

Analyst Verdict

Liverpool’s interest in Collins underlines a growing emphasis on homegrown, physically dominant defenders ahead of the next evolution of their back line. However, unless Brentford soften their stance or a massive offer is made, Collins is set to stay put — at least for this window.

With four years remaining on his contract and no exit clause, Brentford hold all the cards.

Key Insights

WHAT’S NEXT?

Liverpool are likely to continue scouting Collins as part of their long-term centre-back strategy — but with Brentford unwilling to sell, they are expected to shift focus elsewhere before the window closes.

Good player! Very strong as well, could be a good one for Liverpool, especially for their depth or if Konate leaves next to van Dijk.
