Beşiktaş have reportedly initiated contact over a possible summer move for Florentino Luís as the Turkish side intensifies plans to strengthen midfield options ahead of next season.
According to reports from Turkey, Besiktas are prioritising the signing of both a defensive midfielder and a central midfielder, with players based in England currently dominating their shortlist.
Florentino Luis has now emerged as one of the leading names under consideration.
Burnley future increasingly uncertain for Florentino Luis
The Portuguese midfielder spent this season on loan at Burnley from S.L. Benfica in a deal that reportedly includes a €24m purchase obligation.
However, reports in Turkey suggest the 26-year-old is unlikely to remain at Turf Moor beyond the current campaign, particularly after Burnley’s difficult season outside the Premier League picture.
Having followed Burnley’s midfield structure closely this season, Florentino’s qualities in defensive coverage and ball recovery have remained evident even during inconsistent periods for the club. His original move to England was widely viewed as an opportunity to establish himself at Premier League level.
A prolonged spell in the Championship would appear far less attractive from the player’s perspective.
That situation is now believed to have encouraged Besiktas into early discussions.
Besiktas searching for affordable midfield solution
Turkish outlet Sabah claim club president Serdal Adalı and manager Sergen Yalçın are planning a major meeting following the clash with Çaykur Rizespor to finalise transfer priorities for the summer window.
The club are hoping to complete several deals before 23 July as part of an accelerated rebuild.
Financial considerations are expected to shape much of their strategy.
Reports indicate that alternative targets such as João Palhinha and Ibrahim Sangaré are currently viewed as extremely difficult because of cost. Florentino Luis is therefore seen as a more realistic option despite the complications surrounding Burnley’s purchase obligation.

The main obstacle may ultimately be financial structure.
Burnley would presumably expect to recover the €24m they are committed to paying Benfica, while Turkish clubs traditionally prefer loan arrangements or staggered payment models in deals of this size.
What’s next?
Besiktas are expected to continue evaluating midfield options over the coming weeks before deciding whether to intensify negotiations for Florentino Luis.
Much may depend on Burnley’s own stance regarding the midfielder’s future and whether the club are prepared to compromise financially after activating the purchase obligation. Benfica’s involvement could also complicate negotiations further.
For now, the Turkish side appear to be positioning themselves early in case Florentino becomes genuinely available on favourable terms later in the summer window.
Would Florentino Luis suit Turkish football better than another season in England, or should he continue chasing Premier League opportunities?
