Everton enter race for Zuriko Davitashvili amid Saint-Étienne fears

Everton have emerged as contenders in the race to sign Zuriko Davitashvili, with panic reportedly setting in at AS Saint-Étienne over the possibility of losing their standout winger this month.

According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 2 side are increasingly concerned as interest in Davitashvili intensifies, with multiple European clubs now tracking the Georgian international.

Davitashvili has been on the radar of Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş in recent weeks, but the picture has shifted further. Foot Mercato claim Everton have now entered the race, while Portuguese giants Benfica are also showing interest.

That influx of attention has unsettled Saint-Étienne, who are keen to keep hold of one of their most influential players during a critical phase of the season.

Despite the mounting interest, Saint-Étienne’s board have taken a firm position. They have ruled out a January sale, viewing Davitashvili as essential to their push for promotion back to Ligue 1.

However, Foot Mercato report that the player and his representatives are not fully aligned with that stance. A standoff now appears to be developing between Davitashvili’s camp and the club, raising the possibility of a prolonged and tense transfer window.

The feeling within France is that Saint-Étienne could face sustained pressure as January progresses, particularly if Premier League or European suitors decide to formalise their interest.

From Everton’s perspective, Davitashvili fits a familiar recruitment profile — a direct, creative wide player with room to develop and resale potential.
