Everton man explains how Moyes has turned him around

Everton winger Jesper Lindstrøm has continued to sing the praises of David Moyes, insisting the calm he’s brought to Goodison Park is now helping him to improve.

Tipsbladet cover comments from the Everton winger today after he spoke to the national media on Tuesday ahead of the international break.

Lindstrøm has admitted as much, pointing out in comments yesterday that Moyes has changed the style and given him more freedom, something he wants to credit him for further.

“He has given me faith in things,” he said.

“I also think that it has given me a little freedom that we have won some games, so that we don’t have to be so stressed about relegation. It has given me a lot of peace.”

The winger is certainly feeling happier at Everton than he did at Napoli, where things didn’t work out following a big money move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

“I think there are many things. I’ve got a slightly freer role at Everton,” he added.

“I still play on the right side and help defensively, but I have a slightly freer role offensively. The belief from the coach, staff, sports director and those around me – it seems like they believe in me and want me to succeed. That makes a lot of difference.”

The big question is whether Lindstrøm remains at Everton beyond the end of the season when his loan deal expires.

Everton have an option to make the move permanent but will have to debate on that given he’s managed just one assist all season and is yet to score in any competition.

Lindstrøm has admitted publicly that he’d like to stay but knows the decision isn’t his, although he intends to play his part between now and the season to help sway things in his favour.

“We’ll see what happens, but as it stands now, I just have to fight hard and do what I can, and then we’ll see if it’s good enough,” he concluded.

“Now I just got an assist (against Wolves), which of course helps a little, but I also want to score some goals.

“Now there are even more games to do this with the national team, so I hope I can get on the scoreboard. I’m practicing in training and training really hard.”
