Brighton are on the verge of completing the sale of Pervis Estupiñán to AC Milan, with only final paperwork remaining between the clubs. As first reported on July 20 by Football Place, negotiations between the two clubs had entered a decisive phase — and that process has now produced a full agreement.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan will pay €18m plus €2m in add-ons to sign the 27-year-old left-back, following lengthy talks that saw Brighton lower their original asking price of €23m.

Why Milan Accelerated the Deal for Estupiñán

Both Gazzetta and MilanNews’ Antonio Vitiello suggest the clubs worked hard to find a “compromise deemed satisfactory.” Milan’s initial offer was just €12m, but the Rossoneri increased their bid over the weekend to meet Brighton in the middle.

Estupiñán has already agreed personal terms with Milan and will sign a four-year deal worth €2.5m per season. He is expected to join Max Allegri’s squad in Singapore for the remainder of pre-season.

Brighton's Left-Back Rebuild Continues

Selling Estupiñán frees up both wages and space in Brighton’s squad, as new manager Fabian Hurzeler looks to reshape his defence.

The Ecuadorian made 31 appearances last season across all competitions but struggled with fitness during key stretches. The club had already begun sounding out replacements, and Estupiñán’s exit will likely accelerate efforts to bring in another left-back before the window closes.

Analyst Verdict: Right Time to Sell?

Brighton will feel they’ve secured fair value given Estupiñán’s age and recent injury record — turning a relatively modest purchase into a €20m exit. Milan, meanwhile, believe they’ve landed a proven top-flight full-back without overpaying.

But with European football back on Brighton’s agenda, the timing of this sale raises questions. Replacing Estupiñán before the Premier League season begins now becomes a top priority for the Seagulls.

Key Insights

  • Player signs 4-year contract at €2.5m/year with Milan
  • Move expected to be finalised within hours
  • Brighton originally wanted €23m — Milan’s initial bid was €12m

What’s Next?

Estupiñán is set to arrive in Milan to undergo his medical and sign his contract. Once formalities are complete, he’ll link up with the squad in Singapore — and could feature in their upcoming pre-season clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

For Brighton, attention now turns to finding a capable replacement, with less than four weeks to go before the new Premier League campaign begins.

Should Brighton have held out for more — or was this smart business at the right time?

Thats cheap! I dont think Tony Bloom did this transfer, otherwise he would have been gone for 40M. I mean, for 20M it's cheap considering how good he actually was 2 seasons ago. Last season wasn't his best one..
