Manchester City are anxiously awaiting further news regarding Erling Haaland's injury after he was forced to leave the pitch during their FA Cup victory over Bournemouth.
The striker appeared to injure his knee early in the second half. Although Haaland initially tried to continue playing, it quickly became clear that he needed to be substituted. Omar Marmoush replaced Haaland and made an instant impact, scoring the winning goal after Haaland had previously equalized following Evanilson's opener for Bournemouth.
The 3-1 win secured City’s place in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they are set to face Nottingham Forest at Wembley next month. However, before that, the team will shift focus to the Premier League, where they aim to maintain their push for the top four, starting with a home match against Leicester City on Wednesday.
Regarding Haaland's injury, it’s still uncertain how serious it is. The Norwegian international, who has been in remarkable form this season, was seen walking out of the Vitality Stadium wearing a protective boot and using crutches. It's not yet clear if this was just a precaution or an indication of a more serious issue.
After the match, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was unable to offer a definitive update on Haaland’s condition. "I saw him on the massage table but I didn’t speak with him or the doctors so I don’t know," Guardiola commented.
As of the 2024-2025 season, Haaland has scored 27 goals in all competitions for Manchester City, continuing to be one of the top goal scorers in the Premier League and Europe.
Fans will be hoping the injury isn't serious, as Haaland has been instrumental in City’s success this season.
