Enzo Fernandez transfer rumours 2025 have intensified with Real Madrid reportedly circling, but Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has made his stance crystal clear. The Argentine midfielder has become vital to the Blues’ resurgence this season, and Maresca insists he won’t be leaving Stamford Bridge anytime soon.
Signed from Benfica for £106m in 2023, Fernandez struggled in his first season amid instability. However, the 24-year-old has flourished under Maresca’s guidance, forming a dynamic midfield partnership with Moises Caicedo and helping Chelsea mount a late push for Champions League qualification.
As speculation grows about a possible Real Madrid swoop, Maresca addressed the issue directly ahead of Chelsea’s season-defining Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
“Enzo is very important for us. He is one of our captains, one of the leaders… and he is staying,” — Enzo Maresca
Chelsea’s Champions League Hopes Could Determine Fernandez Future
With Champions League football on the line, Chelsea must overcome their poor away form to secure a top-five finish. Fernandez has played a key role in their recent surge, but Maresca admitted that road performances remain a concern.
“For sure, if we struggle away, there is a reason why, and we are going to use the break to understand it.” — Enzo Maresca
Chelsea’s performance at the City Ground will not only influence their European hopes, but could also impact how Real Madrid approach the Fernandez situation.
