Everton are among several clubs monitoring the situation of Youssef En-Nesyri, but Fenerbahçe have now publicly addressed the striker’s future amid growing transfer speculation.
Everton are actively exploring options to strengthen their forward line during the January window, with both Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to provide consistent goal threat in the first half of the season. Despite sitting 12th in the Premier League, David Moyes’ side are only four points off fifth place, leaving scope for a late push if attacking output improves.
Moyes admiration and AFCON spotlight
En-Nesyri has long been admired by David Moyes, dating back to his time at West Ham United. The 28-year-old has a strong pedigree, having won the Europa League twice with Sevilla and establishing himself as a key figure for Morocco.
Currently away on international duty, En-Nesyri is part of the Morocco squad preparing to face Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday. He converted the decisive penalty in the semi-final shootout win over Nigeria, further enhancing his profile.
Everton are not alone in tracking the striker. Nottingham Forest and Serie A champions Napoli have also been linked with interest.
Tedesco breaks Fenerbahçe silence
Following Fenerbahçe’s 1–0 win over Beyoğlu Yeni Çarşı, head coach Domenico Tedesco was asked directly about En-Nesyri’s future. While he avoided addressing transfer talks head-on, his message was clear.
“Youssef is our player. He’s a Fenerbahçe player, so he has our full support,” Tedesco said.
“We already exchanged messages yesterday. He has an important match with the Moroccan national team and I wish him all the best.
“Although we would have liked him to join us sooner, I hope they reach the final and achieve even more. He’s always given his all whenever we needed him, and he deserves my full support.”
The comments underline Fenerbahçe’s public stance: En-Nesyri remains valued and trusted, even if interest from abroad continues.
Transfer talks gathering pace
Reports in Turkey suggest Everton have already submitted a loan offer worth £4.5 million, which is claimed to have been accepted by Fenerbahçe. Since joining the Istanbul club from Sevilla in 2024, En-Nesyri has scored 38 goals in 77 appearances, making him one of the Super Lig’s most reliable forwards.
However, Moyes has consistently stressed that Everton will only act in January if the signing represents an immediate upgrade.
“The big thing about January is you can bring players in to fill and patch up,” Moyes explained.
“But really, you’d rather wait and keep your money for when you’ve got more time to do it properly.
“Sometimes clubs need short-term fixes, but ideally you want a player who’s going to be with you for a long period. January is rarely that time.”

What’s next?
