Everton given fresh chance to sign Emil Holm as Bologna seek summer sale

Everton have reportedly been handed a fresh opportunity to sign Bologna right-back Emil Holm after the Swedish international's difficult spell at Juventus came to an end.

The Toffees attempted to sign Holm during the January transfer window but ultimately lost out when Juventus secured his signature on loan. Six months later, the situation has changed dramatically, with the Turin club deciding against making the move permanent.

As a result, Holm is expected to return to Bologna this summer, where club officials are already working to find him a new destination.

Reports from Italy suggest Holm's representatives are actively exploring options ahead of the new season, with a move to the Premier League viewed as one of the player's preferred outcomes.

Everton's previous interest has not been forgotten.

The Merseyside club made a formal approach in January and remain one of the most obvious candidates should they decide to revisit the deal. According to reports, the prospect of joining Everton would still appeal to the Sweden international.

The situation may now be more favourable for the Toffees than it was earlier in the year.

Unlike January, Juventus are no longer competing for his signature, and Bologna appear increasingly motivated to facilitate a transfer.

Bologna's failure to qualify for European competition has forced the club to reassess its financial planning for the summer.

Several players have been linked with potential exits, but club officials reportedly believe selling Holm could help ease pressure elsewhere in the squad.
