Manchester United will meet Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent this week as a £26m PSG exit fee is set, though wages remain a sticking point.

Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of securing Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, with director of football Jason Wilcox due to meet the Italy international’s agent, Enzo Raiola, this week.

The Red Devils’ summer business has already topped £200m following Benjamin Sesko’s arrival, but Ruben Amorim still wants two more signings — a holding midfielder and a new No.1 goalkeeper. Donnarumma has emerged as the leading target between the sticks, with Andre Onana struggling to deliver since his £47.2m move from Inter Milan two years ago.

According to StrettyNews, talks with Raiola are “scheduled for this week” as United look to capitalise on Donnarumma’s contract situation. The 74-cap Italy star has less than a year left on his PSG deal and, per talkSPORT’s Anil Kandola, could be available for around £26m (€30m).

Donnarumma Open to Move, But Wages a Hurdle

Donnarumma is understood to be open to a switch to Old Trafford, but his current contract at PSG — worth €18m per year (around £300,000 per week) — poses a major obstacle.

“He told PSG he had other options and, at a certain point, he did not want to stay.” — Duncan Castles

United are pushing to bring down their wage bill under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s “not buying superstars, but making them” vision, and will aim to convince the 26-year-old to accept reduced terms.

Analyst Verdict

Donnarumma’s shot-stopping and penalty-saving ability make him one of the few goalkeepers capable of instantly upgrading United’s defensive reliability. From reviewing his last three matches for PSG, his command of the box and quick distribution would fit Amorim’s transitional style. The question is whether United can structure a deal that satisfies both PSG’s fee and the player’s salary demands.

Key Insights

  • United meet Donnarumma’s agent this week.
  • PSG willing to sell for £26m (€30m).
  • Player earns £300k per week at PSG — wage cut required.
  • Amorim targeting new No.1 after Onana’s struggles.

What’s Next

United will hope to finalise personal terms before negotiating a formal agreement with PSG. Should talks progress smoothly, Donnarumma could be signed before the Premier League window closes, giving Amorim his new first-choice keeper before September.

Should United break their wage structure to land Donnarumma — or walk away if he won’t lower demands?
