Fabrizio Romano reports that Al Hilal have submitted a formal contract proposal to Darwin Núñez. Personal terms are now being negotiated, with discussions ongoing between the player’s camp and the Saudi club.
Al Hilal have officially presented a contract proposal to Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez, as the Saudi Pro League side accelerate plans to make him their next marquee signing.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that discussions between Al Hilal and Núñez’s representatives are now in the personal terms stage, following the project presentation earlier this week. The 26-year-old has yet to make a final decision, but a move could see his salary increase dramatically.
What Darwin Núñez Currently Earns at Liverpool
Núñez signed for Liverpool in 2022 from Benfica in a deal worth up to £85m. He is currently believed to be earning around:
🟢 £140,000 per week
🟢 ~£7.3 million per year (before tax)
This puts him below the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk on Liverpool’s wage structure, but still among the club’s top earners.
What Al Hilal Are Offering
According to reports from the Gulf and European media, Al Hilal’s contract proposal would see Núñez earn upwards of:
🔵 £500,000 to £600,000 per week (tax-free)
🔵 ~£26–31 million per year
This would put Núñez among the top 10 highest-paid players globally, alongside stars like Neymar (also at Al Hilal), Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Saudi clubs offer tax-free packages, image rights incentives, luxury housing, private transport, and bonuses tied to league and continental success — making the deal extremely lucrative, even for a player still in his prime.
Why Al Hilal Want Núñez
Al Hilal are looking to reinforce their forward line after missing out on several European targets earlier this window. While Neymar remains at the club, there’s a clear desire to add youth, explosiveness, and long-term value to the attack.
Núñez, despite inconsistency at Liverpool, fits the profile: raw pace, physicality, and a direct style that translates well to the Saudi Pro League. He would also bring commercial and branding appeal — particularly across South America and Portugal.
“Al Hilal’s offer for Darwin is part of a wider strategy to target players in their mid-20s with elite potential,” said a Saudi football insider. — Arriyadiyah

Analyst Verdict
If Núñez accepts Al Hilal’s offer, he’ll be making nearly four times his Liverpool salary — with full tax exemption. From a financial standpoint, the move makes sense.
From a sporting point of view, however, it may be seen as an early exit from European elite competition for a player still just 26. That said, Saudi clubs are now serious contenders, and Núñez would be joining a growing number of elite players trading Champions League nights for Middle East riches.

A resolution is expected within the next 7–10 days, depending on Núñez’s camp.
Should Darwin Núñez take the Al Hilal offer — or fight for his place at Liverpool?
