Crystal Palace’s interest in Sacha Boey has yet to progress into concrete negotiations, with Sky Germany reporting that talks for the Bayern Munich full-back are “not yet advanced” ahead of the January transfer window.

While Bayern are actively open to a winter exit, Palace have so far limited their approach to initial enquiries, leaving any potential deal very much in the exploratory phase.

Bayern set terms as Palace hesitate

According to Sky GermanyBayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl is seeking around €20m for Boey.

Bayern would also consider a loan deal with an obligation to buy — a structure designed to encourage movement in January. However, the report adds a key complication: Boey himself has rejected all offers so far.

That reluctance has slowed progress, even with Palace understood to be among his strongest admirers.

Palace interest confirmed — but no push yet

Crystal Palace are said to have shown clear interest in the Frenchman, but Sky Germany stress that negotiations between the clubs are not advanced.

At this stage, Palace are believed to have simply asked about the player’s availability rather than entering detailed talks — a stance that aligns with earlier reports suggesting momentum had cooled.

That earlier information claimed Palace boss Oliver Glasner had personally contacted Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund. The pair previously worked together at RB Salzburg, giving Palace a direct line of communication.

Player still needs convincing

A significant hurdle remains Boey’s own stance. Despite Bayern being open to a sale, the 24-year-old has so far turned down potential exits, indicating he is unconvinced by the options presented.

That reality means any Palace move would require not just agreement between clubs, but also persuading the player that Selhurst Park represents the right next step in his career.

January window could shift dynamics

Although talks are currently limited, the situation is fluid. With January approaching and Glasner keen to strengthen his squad, Palace’s interest could yet intensify — particularly if injuries or form issues persist in the full-back areas.

For now, however, Sky Germany’s assessment is clear: Palace are watching, but not pushing.

Key Insights

  • Crystal Palace’s talks for Sacha Boey are “not yet advanced”.
  • Bayern Munich want €20m or a loan with obligation to buy.
  • Boey has rejected all offers so far and needs convincing.
  • Palace have made enquiries but no formal negotiations.
  • Oliver Glasner’s prior link with Christoph Freund keeps the door open.

What’s next?

As the January window nears, Bayern are expected to continue exploring ways to offload Boey, while Palace will monitor whether circumstances change — either financially or from the player’s side.

If Boey softens his stance or Palace increase their urgency, discussions could accelerate quickly. Until then, this remains a situation to watch rather than a deal close to completion.

Should Palace push harder for Boey — or look elsewhere for January reinforcements?
