Maxence Lacroix admitted Crystal Palace were left “frustrated” after a costly lapse in concentration handed Burnley a dramatic comeback victory at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles had raced into a 2-0 lead and looked in full control before conceding three times in an eight-minute spell before half-time. Despite dominating large parts of the second half and creating further chances, Palace were unable to overturn the damage.

Maxence Lacroix frustrated by Crystal Palace mistakes vs Burnley

“I think we lost our focus for 10 minutes,” Lacroix said after the match. “And we conceded three goals in these 10 minutes.

“So I think it's a big mistake from us. We are a little bit frustrated about that, about this result.

“We could have done better for the fans. I think we lost our concentration and this is not professional.”

Having followed Palace’s recent performances, the issue was not creativity but game management. Burnley capitalised ruthlessly during a brief defensive collapse that shifted momentum entirely.

Lacroix was clear about the corrective action required.

“We have to work on this, because we want to have a successful season. If we reduce these types of mistakes, we can still have a beautiful season.”

Encouraging signs despite defeat

While the result stung, there were positives. Jørgen Strand Larsen marked his home debut with two goals, offering encouragement in attack.

“I’m happy for my teammate,” Lacroix added. “I think he is already part of the group, it feels like he’s been here for a long time.

“I was happy to see him score today and I think the fans are also happy.”

Strand Larsen’s movement and composure in front of goal provided a focal point, even as Palace struggled defensively.

What’s next
