Crystal Palace eye €20m Arthur Theate transfer

Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the race for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Arthur Theate as they assess potential defensive additions this summer.

The Belgium international has attracted interest from several clubs following a strong season in Germany, and Frankfurt are believed to be open to a sale at the right price.

According to Sport Bild, the Bundesliga club would consider offers worth between €20m and €25m for the 26-year-old.

Theate’s versatility could make him an attractive option for Crystal Palace. He is primarily a centre-back but is also comfortable playing on the left side of defence.

Frankfurt initially signed him on loan from Stade Rennais before making the move permanent for a reported €13m in the winter of 2025.

The Belgian went on to make 33 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring once and providing one assist.

His performances have now placed him on the radar of several clubs, with Palace among those reportedly considering a move.

Theate is currently representing Belgium at the World Cup, meaning any major developments over his club future could depend on his involvement in the tournament.

Frankfurt’s reported willingness to sell gives interested clubs a clear indication of what may be required to open negotiations.

A fee between €20m and €25m would still represent a profit on the amount paid to sign Theate permanently, while Palace would be getting an experienced international defender capable of covering more than one position.

However, Palace are not believed to be alone in monitoring the situation, and there is currently no indication that a formal offer has been submitted.

Crystal Palace must now decide whether to turn their interest into a concrete approach. Frankfurt appear open to doing business, but competition from other clubs could influence how quickly the situation develops.

For now, Theate remains focused on Belgium’s World Cup campaign while his future at club level attracts increasing attention.
