Cristhian Mosquera has left the door open for a potential return to Valencia, admitting the club “gave me everything from day one” and remains close to his heart.

The 21-year-old centre-back swapped La Liga for the Premier League this summer, completing a move to Arsenal after nine years at Valencia. Despite his promising start in north London, Mosquera has spoken with affection about his old club — and refused to rule out a future comeback.

Mosquera: “Like Valencia, nothing — that’s for sure”

During the international break, Mosquera represented Spain’s U21s and took the opportunity to visit Valencia’s training ground, where he caught up with former teammates and coaches.
Speaking to Radio Marca at Manises Airport before flying back to London, Mosquera reflected on the emotional reunion.

“I’m very happy to see my former teammates again in what has been my home. There’s nothing like Valencia. It’s a club that gave me everything from day one, one that I’ve fallen in love with, one that I’ve become.” — Cristhian Mosquera, *Radio Marca*

He added a telling line that suggests a future return isn’t out of the question:

“Who knows? Life takes many twists and turns. Football takes you one place one day and another the next. But like Valencia, nothing — that’s for sure.” — Cristhian Mosquera

From La Liga talent to Arsenal regular

Mosquera joined Valencia’s academy in 2016 and made his first-team debut in 2021, going on to play 90 times before Arsenal sealed his signing in a deal that includes a contract until 2030 with an option for a further year.

A conversation with Mikel Arteta reportedly convinced him to make the switch, and the defender has already appeared in eight matches for Arsenal this season — showing composure beyond his years.

The Spain U21 international’s calmness on the ball and anticipation in defence have already made him a favourite under Arteta, who sees him as part of Arsenal’s long-term defensive core.

Analyst verdict – early promise, future sentiment

In my view, Mosquera’s honesty reflects both maturity and emotional attachment. His connection to Valencia runs deep, but his career trajectory at Arsenal suggests he’s built for the elite level.

FootballPlace analyst John William adds:
“Mosquera’s words aren’t a transfer tease — they’re a reminder of where his football identity was formed. Arsenal fans shouldn’t panic, but Valencia will always be part of his football DNA.”

Key insights

  • Mosquera says “there’s nothing like Valencia” and leaves door open for a return.
  • Spent nine years at Mestalla before joining Arsenal in July 2025.
  • Has made eight appearances for Arsenal so far.
  • Signed until 2030 with option for another year.
  • Credits Mikel Arteta’s vision for his Premier League move.

What’s next for Mosquera and Arsenal?

Mosquera will return to London this week as Arsenal prepare to face Fulham. Arteta continues to rotate his defensive options, and the Spaniard is expected to feature in the Carabao Cup clash against Brighton later this month.

As for Valencia, fans will take comfort in knowing that even from London, one of their academy’s finest exports still calls Mestalla “home.”
