Chelsea vs AC Milan: João Pedro scores twice as Blues cruise to friendly victory

Chelsea continued their pre-season preparations with a convincing 3-0 victory over AC Milan in Jakarta, as João Pedro scored twice before Moisés Caicedo sealed the win with a spectacular second-half strike.

Xabi Alonso's side produced an increasingly dominant display after a slow start, showing their attacking quality and defensive control against the Serie A giants.

AC Milan made the brighter start in difficult conditions, enjoying more possession during the opening stages while Chelsea gradually settled into the contest.

As the first half progressed, the Blues began to take control and João Pedro emerged as their biggest attacking threat.

The Brazilian eventually broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time, rising highest to head home from a corner after Chelsea had begun to dominate proceedings.

He doubled the advantage less than a minute after the restart, arriving inside the six-yard box to convert Pedro Neto's dangerous free-kick delivery and put Chelsea firmly in control.

Milan introduced eight substitutions at half-time, but the changes failed to halt Chelsea's momentum.

Just minutes after João Pedro's second goal, Moisés Caicedo produced the moment of the match with a superb volley from the edge of the penalty area after another corner was only partially cleared.

The Ecuador international's strike effectively ended the contest, allowing Chelsea to control possession and limit Milan's attacking opportunities for the remainder of the match.

Although the Italian side enjoyed more of the ball during the closing stages, they struggled to create clear chances as Chelsea comfortably preserved their clean sheet.

The result provided another positive step in Chelsea's preparations for the new campaign.

João Pedro continued his encouraging pre-season form with a clinical display in front of goal, while Caicedo once again demonstrated his importance at the heart of midfield.

Perhaps most pleasing for Alonso was Chelsea's defensive organisation, with the Blues limiting Milan to few meaningful opportunities despite facing one of their strongest pre-season opponents.

Chelsea will take confidence from another polished pre-season performance as Alonso continues fine-tuning his squad ahead of the new campaign. The Blues will look to maintain their momentum in their remaining friendlies before attention turns to the start of the Premier League season.
