The Premier League’s latest report on agent fee spending has revealed that Chelsea once again top the list, with a staggering £60.4 million paid to player representatives between February 2024 and February 2025. The data, published by the Football Association, shows that Premier League clubs collectively spent over £409 million on intermediary fees during the 12-month period — nearly seven times more than the £63.2 million spent by Championship clubs. Chelsea’s £60.4m outlay narrowly surpassed the entire Championship total, but also marked a significant drop from the £75.1m they spent on agents during the previous campaign.
According to the FA, some payments may have been made for past agreements that were actioned during the reporting window. This means not all agent fees listed directly correspond with transfer activity in the same time frame.
Other High Spenders
Manchester City were the second-biggest spenders at £52.1m, followed by Manchester United at £33m. Aston Villa and Newcastle United completed the top five, each spending over £24 million.
Meanwhile, Ipswich Town, promoted to the top flight this season, recorded the lowest spend in the division at just over £6.2 million.

With over £409 million spent across the Premier League in just 12 months, the influence of agents in top-flight football has never been clearer. While some fans may view these fees as a necessary part of doing business in a competitive market, others continue to question their long-term impact on club finances and player loyalty.
Chelsea, once again leading the way, have now paid more in agent fees than several entire leagues. Yet, despite their spending power, the club has faced questions around consistency and on-pitch results.
