Manchester United are on the verge of finalising Casemiro’s transfer to Al-Nassr, with talks now at an advanced stage. The 33-year-old midfielder looks set to become the latest high-profile Premier League star to head to the Saudi Pro League.

Saudi outlet Sport Jazirah reports, via the Manchester Evening News, that negotiations between United and Al-Nassr are progressing rapidly. United are open to offloading the veteran, who remains their highest-paid player on a deal signed after his £70m move from Real Madrid in 2022.

Al-Nassr Lead Saudi Interest in United Stars

The Saudi Pro League has kept close tabs on Old Trafford this summer, with several United players being monitored. Al-Hilal previously made a bold push for Bruno Fernandes, while Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have also been linked with exits.

But it’s Al-Nassr who now appear to be closest to striking a deal — with Casemiro’s age, wages, and injury concerns aligning with United’s strategy to trim their wage bill and refresh the squad.

“It’s a good time for both sides to part ways,” said a source close to the club. “United need legs and energy in midfield — and this opens the door.”

Amorim’s Midfield Overhaul Begins

Despite Casemiro’s late-season revival — including 10 Europa League starts — Ruben Amorim has prioritised a midfield refresh. Reports suggest João Palhinha of Bayern Munich is top of the wishlist, with Ederson of Atalanta now considered out of financial reach.

However, United’s hierarchy are said to be favouring loan deals unless major sales go through — making Casemiro’s exit key to unlocking new signings.

What’s Next?

A formal agreement with Al-Nassr could be announced before the end of June. United will then shift focus toward midfield recruitment and trimming additional high-earner contracts.
