Burnley in talks as Beşiktaş eye Hartman loan deal

Burnley have been drawn into fresh transfer discussions late in the window, with Beşiktaş reopening talks over a possible move for left-back Quilindschy Hartman.

The Super Lig side are again exploring defensive reinforcements after a frustrating run of missed targets, and Hartman has re-emerged as a viable option following his reduced role at Turf Moor in recent weeks.

Beşiktaş had previously been linked with Hartman earlier in the January window but shifted focus while assessing other opportunities. Their priority became Wolverhampton Wanderers defender David Møller Wolfe, with talks opened and an offer submitted.

That move stalled once AS Roma entered the race, prompting Beşiktaş to withdraw. A separate attempt to sign Lazio full-back Nuno Tavares also fell through, despite negotiations reaching an advanced stage.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, those setbacks have pushed Beşiktaş back towards Hartman, with the Burnley defender now firmly back on their shortlist.

Beşiktaş are understood to be weighing up a loan proposal that would include an option to buy. That structure would allow the Turkish club to reinforce immediately without committing to a permanent outlay mid-season.

Whether Burnley are open to such a deal remains unclear. With the Clarets locked in a relegation battle, Scott Parker is unlikely to welcome further disruption to his senior squad before the deadline.

The Super Lig transfer window remains open until 6 February, giving Beşiktaş additional time even after the Premier League deadline passes.

Hartman arrived at Burnley from Feyenoord in the summer and was a regular fixture during the early months of the campaign. However, his role has diminished sharply since December.

The 24-year-old has featured just once in Burnley’s last ten league matches and was not involved at all in the recent clash with Tottenham Hotspur. That absence has fuelled speculation that his standing within Parker’s plans has shifted.

Having followed Burnley closely over the past few weeks, Hartman’s exclusion has been one of the more notable selection trends, particularly given the club’s ongoing defensive struggles.

One factor working in Burnley’s favour is Hartman’s contract. He is tied to the club until June 2029, meaning there is no immediate pressure to sanction a sale.

From Burnley’s perspective, allowing a senior defender to leave during a relegation fight carries obvious risk. However, if Hartman is no longer considered first-choice, a structured loan could be viewed as a compromise — though that remains speculative at this stage.

Beşiktaş are expected to decide quickly whether to formalise a loan offer, mindful of the Premier League deadline and their own extended window. Burnley, meanwhile, must weigh squad stability against Hartman’s reduced involvement. Unless Parker’s stance softens, any move is likely to hinge on whether Burnley see sufficient short-term cover elsewhere.
