Fulham ended 74 years of misery at Turf Moor as Harry Wilson inspired Marco Silva’s side to a dramatic 3–2 victory over Burnley, piling further pressure on former Cottagers boss Scott Parker.

Fulham had failed to win on this ground in 30 consecutive attempts stretching back to 1951, but Wilson’s masterclass — one goal and two assists — powered the visitors to a victory that lifts them seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Fulham strike early as Burnley’s defensive woes continue

Emile Smith Rowe opened the scoring after just six minutes, capitalising on a disastrous error from Quilindschy Hartman. Wilson’s bouncing near-post corner should have been a simple clearance, but Hartman let the ball pass through his legs, leaving Smith Rowe to prod home one of the easiest goals he’ll ever score.

Burnley responded well and equalised through Lesley Ugochukwu, who finished smartly off the post after being slipped in by Josh Cullen. It was Burnley’s first open-play goal in more than a month, but their defensive fragility resurfaced almost immediately.

Poor defending from a cleared corner allowed Antonee Robinson — making his first league start of the season — to pick out Wilson in acres of space. The Welshman delivered a superb clipped cross for Calvin Bassey, who headed in from point-blank range to restore Fulham’s lead.

Burnley pressure, but Fulham land the killer blow

Bernd Leno denied Armando Broja and Ugochukwu before half-time, and Burnley nearly levelled again after the break when Smith Rowe’s loose back-pass gifted Jacob Bruun Larsen a golden chance — but Leno saved Fulham once more.

A brief Fulham wobble followed, with Bassey flattening Broja in the area and Andersen scuffing clearances, but VAR ruled no foul on the defender.

Fulham took full advantage of their reprieve. A rapid counter-attack saw Samuel Chukwueze feed Wilson, who picked his spot coolly inside the box for his eighth goal of the season and what proved to be the match-winner.

Burnley substitute Oliver Sonne scored a late consolation with a composed finish from Hartman’s cross, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a seventh straight Premier League defeat — their worst league run since 1995.

Boos echoed around Turf Moor at full-time.

Wilson on fire — six goal involvements in four Premier League games

Harry Wilson delivered yet another sensational performance, directly involved in all three Fulham goals. This was only the second time in his Premier League career he had recorded 3+ goal involvements in a match.

vs Crystal Palace: 1 assist
vs Man City: 1 goal
vs Burnley: 1 goal, 2 assists

His technical quality was on full display — including the outrageous first touch that set up Bassey’s header.

A huge psychological win — and Wilson’s best run of form

In our view, the Burnley vs Fulham five-goal thriller Turf Moor hoodoo narrative speaks for itself. Although some may argue Fulham were helped by Burnley’s defensive lapses, the nuance is that Fulham showed resolve, efficiency and attacking sharpness — qualities they have lacked on the road this season.

Wilson’s purple patch could be season-defining. A fair counterpoint is that Fulham still look fragile defensively, but with Wilson and Chukwueze in form, they have the firepower to stay clear of danger.

For Burnley, the alarm bells are deafening. Seven straight losses under Scott Parker, no home win since October, and a defence unrecognisable from last season’s Championship success.
