Bukayo Saka signs new Arsenal deal and targets historic trophy run

Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract at Arsenal, committing his future to the club until 2031 and declaring his ambition to “make history” in north London.

The 24-year-old winger has put pen to paper on a deal understood to be worth in excess of £300,000 per week, making him Arsenal’s highest-paid player. A verbal agreement had been reached last month, but confirmation this week removes any lingering uncertainty over his long-term future.

Saka’s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of next season, though confidence inside the club remained high that an extension would be secured.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Saka described the renewal as a natural decision.

“I'm feeling amazing. I think it's a fantastic moment for my family and for me,” he said.

“For me, it was an easy commitment and I just hope to win everything here.

“I believe the next few years are going to be the years that we get over the line, and we're able to win trophies and make history for this club.”

His contract celebration during the 2-2 draw with Wolves on 18 February 2026 had effectively confirmed the news. After heading home the opener, Saka mimicked signing on his hand in front of the travelling supporters.

Saka has recently operated in a No10 role as Mikel Arteta searches for solutions amid injuries to Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz. His goal against Wolves ended a 15-match goalless run, but his influence extends beyond scoring.

Arsenal have made securing core players a priority. William Saliba and Gabriel recently signed long-term extensions, while academy prospects Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri committed their futures last summer.

Having followed Arsenal’s squad-building approach closely this season, tying Saka down reinforces the club’s medium-term project. However, contracts alone do not deliver trophies.

Saka represents more than output. As an academy graduate who joined aged seven, his renewal signals cultural continuity. In modern football, long-term commitments from elite-level talents are increasingly rare. However, sustained competitive progress must now follow to justify both expectation and investment.

Arsenal remain in the Premier League title race and face Tottenham on 23 February 2026. Saka’s renewed commitment provides a timely boost ahead of a defining run of fixtures.
