Brighton vs Liverpool 2025 ended in a stunning 3-2 defeat for the newly crowned Premier League champions as Arne Slot’s side remained winless since sealing their 20th English title. Despite leading twice through Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool collapsed late at the Amex as Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton fought back for a memorable victory.
Substitutes Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood inspired the Seagulls’ comeback, with the latter firing the winner just five minutes from time. Mo Salah had earlier missed a golden opportunity to put Liverpool 3-1 ahead, leaving Brighton with an opening they ruthlessly exploited.
With one game left in the season, Brighton remain in the hunt for a Europa Conference League spot, while Liverpool’s post-title hangover continues.
Hurzeler: Liverpool Opener Was a Wake-Up Call
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler praised his side’s mentality after the comeback win and admitted the early setback sparked the turnaround.
“The first Liverpool goal was a wake-up signal for us… The players changed the intensity and I was proud of their reaction.” — Fabian Hurzeler
He also highlighted the impact of young players and praised the performances of Jack Hinshelwood, Brajan Gruda, and debutant Harry Howell.

Even if Brighton wins, I think they need Chelsea to lose the game against Forest or something, just to be able to qualify for Europe.
