Brighton scout provides transfer advice for target – Seagulls may not be too happy

Brighton and Hove Albion target Sam Steijn should avoid moving to England this summer and instead stay where he is.

That’s according to current Brighton scout Bert Konterman, via FC Update, who doesn’t seem to think his club would be the best destination for the FC Twente star this summer.

Steijn has been impressing in the Netherlands this season, sitting top of the Eredivisie goalscoring charts with 22 goals to his name so far.

That’s led to plenty of speculation already, with the big clubs in the Eredivisie reportedly eyeing a transfer and interest from the Premier League too.

Brighton have reportedly shown interest in the player, with some reports suggesting their pursuit of him at the start of this month. However, convincing him to make the move to the south coast might prove challenging. Brighton could be an intriguing option, offering the chance of European football next season and a reputation for developing talent, both of which could be appealing.

That said, Konterman believes there might be better opportunities elsewhere and has offered alternative advice to Steijn regarding his potential move this summer.

“He has to sign for three or four years,” the Brighton scout told De Oosttribune on RTV Oost, relayed by FC Update.

“Bruggink has to offer him good conditions, also for the future, after his career, and then he gets a nice statue at the main entrance. I think he should go for that, because I think that’s his level.

“Maybe play the Champions League with Twente again or get very far in the Europa League. I think Steijn is already walking on eggshells.

“I think that if you have to work a lot in disrupting and then still have to attack, Steijn falls short, has too little substance. If he stays, it is to be hoped that Twente will maintain dominance in the home matches. He has to be there. He can’t constantly come and go back.”
