Brighton Diego Coppola transfer 2025 is officially done as the Seagulls confirmed the 21-year-old Italian centre-back has joined from Hellas Verona for a reported €11m (£9m). The highly-rated defender signs a five-year contract until June 2030, becoming Fabian Hurzeler’s fourth summer signing.
Coppola joins after a strong Serie A season where he made 33 starts, helped Verona avoid relegation, and earned his first senior Italy cap. The Seagulls beat several clubs to his signature and now boast enviable depth in central defence.
Hurzeler Delighted by Brighton’s Long-Term Investment
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler sees Diego Coppola as more than just a defensive option — he views the 21-year-old as a cornerstone for the club’s future. Speaking after the deal was confirmed, Hurzeler praised both the player’s character and his Serie A development.
“Diego is tall, strong and mobile — he’s made great progress in Serie A, and we’re excited to develop him further.” — Fabian Hurzeler
The club believes Coppola will integrate smoothly with Brighton’s tactical setup, and with his European pedigree already growing, the timing of this move appears ideal.
Who Is Diego Coppola?
Born in Bussolengo and raised in the Verona academy, Coppola made his senior debut at 17 and has since logged 85 appearances for the Serie A club. His performances last season earned him a senior call-up — debuting in a 3-0 defeat to Norway and appearing again in a 2-0 win over Moldova.
Comfortable in a back three or four, he offers versatility and physicality, standing at 6ft 4in — ideal for Premier League demands.

Brighton’s Defensive Depth Grows
With Lewis Dunk, Igor Julio, Adam Webster, Jan Paul van Hecke and Eiran Cashin already competing for minutes, Hurzeler is now spoiled for choice. Brighton are building quietly but purposefully — having already secured Watson, Kostoulas (£29.8m), and Yoon earlier this summer.
“He’s the future of Italian defending — and Brighton is a perfect Premier League landing spot.” — Italian media analyst

Brighton and their scouting has been amazing the last couple of season so I wouldn't be surprised if he's the next thing.
