Borna Sosa Crystal Palace transfer news is gathering pace, with the Eagles close to sealing a €4m deal for the Ajax defender in one of their first key moves of the summer window.

According to De Telegraaf, the 27-year-old Croatian is set to join Palace in a deal worth €4 million plus add-ons, as the London club bolster their left-back depth ahead of a possible Europa League campaign.

Sosa is currently out of Ajax's first-team training group, with the Dutch club actively trying to move on several high-earners. Palace submitted an official bid on Friday and are now expected to finalise personal terms quickly.

Palace Want Competition for Mitchell

The move is designed to give Tyrick Mitchell proper cover and competition. The England international played 45 matches last season — often pushing through injuries due to a lack of depth after Ben Chilwell’s disappointing loan spell.

“Palace see Sosa as experienced, mobile and hungry to prove himself in the Premier League,” said a club source close to the deal. — De Telegraaf

Sosa’s versatility — able to play as a full-back or wing-back — fits Oliver Glasner’s system, and his experience across Bundesliga, Serie A and Eredivisie gives Palace a ready-made option.

Serie A Atalanta (loan) 13 1
Eredivisie Ajax 18 2

Analyst Verdict

Sosa won’t grab headlines, but this is a smart, low-cost solution to a problem Palace have ignored for too long. He’s a reliable crosser, reads the game well, and is physically strong enough for English football — even if he arrives slightly under the radar.

What’s Next?

Personal terms are not expected to be a stumbling block. Palace hope to finalise the deal this week and register Sosa in time for their pre-season tour — especially with UEFA’s Europa League ruling expected within days.

Is Sosa the right backup for Mitchell — or should Palace aim higher?
