Barcelona have been hit with yet another Financial Fair Play (FFP) obstacle — and this time it could delay the arrival of Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia.

Despite agreements in place for both players, neither has been registered with La Liga as of Monday, due to the club's ongoing salary cap issues.

According to reports from Marca and COPE, the Blaugrana must finalise player sales before they are cleared to formally complete either deal. Rashford, who has agreed a cut-price move from Manchester United, and Garcia, signed from Espanyol, are both training but cannot yet be included in competitive squads.

Why Barcelona Can’t Register Rashford (Yet)

Marcus Rashford’s proposed transfer to Barcelona was seen as a smart gamble — a €30m fee for a proven international forward looking to revive his career abroad.

However, the club’s wage bill remains above the threshold set by La Liga, meaning they cannot submit new contracts or registrations until space is created on the books.

La Liga's Strict Rules Keep Pressure On

Barcelona's struggle isn't new — they faced similar hurdles in 2022 and 2023, often requiring last-minute levers and contract restructures. But the post-Messi era has offered little financial breathing room, and La Liga’s strict rules continue to restrict flexibility.

The club has reportedly requested provisional registration options from La Liga, but unless funds are freed soon, the Rashford and Garcia deals could be delayed until the final weeks of the window.

Analyst Verdict: Rashford's Risk — and Reward

If Barça can resolve their finances, Rashford could be a smart addition. Still only 27, he brings Champions League pedigree, elite pace, and a point to prove. However, the registration delay risks souring the momentum of the transfer — and may frustrate fans who expected faster business this summer.

Key Insights

What’s Next for Barcelona?

Barcelona are racing the clock to finalise player exits before their league opener on August 17. Talks continue with Saudi and Premier League clubs over Raphinha and Ferran Torres.

Rashford is currently training with the squad, but unless La Liga accepts Barça’s provisional registration request, he will be unavailable for the Joan Gamper Trophy and could miss the season start entirely.

Joan Garcia’s situation is similar — with both players expected to be formally registered only after two major departures.

Should Barcelona cash in on Raphinha to register Rashford now — or hold out for better offers? Drop your verdict in the comments.
