Ayase Ueda is reportedly prioritising a move to the Premier League despite strong interest from Fenerbahçe, casting fresh doubt over the Turkish club's pursuit of the Feyenoord striker.

The Japan international has emerged as one of Fenerbahçe's leading attacking targets this summer, but his preference appears to lie elsewhere.

Ueda wants Premier League switch

According to Algemeen Dagblad, Ueda's priority is a move to England rather than Turkey.

Fenerbahçe have already submitted an opening bid worth more than €20 million for the 27-year-old, with Feyenoord prepared to negotiate in the hope of securing a fee closer to €25m.

However, the striker must also agree personal terms, and that currently looks far from certain.

Feyenoord reporter Mikos Gouka explained the situation on the AD Voetbalpodcast.

"Turkey doesn't really appeal to him at the moment. Sometimes money can change that, but as far as I know, he is waiting for a Premier League adventure."

Brighton among previous admirers

Brighton & Hove Albion and Ipswich Town have both been linked with Ueda earlier in the transfer window.

Brighton remain in the market for a striker following Danny Welbeck's departure, with Football Place previously reporting that the Seagulls are exploring several options, including the Feyenoord forward.

No formal Premier League bid has yet materialised, but Ueda's stance could encourage English clubs to step up their interest before the transfer deadline.

Fenerbahçe face competition

Fenerbahçe are also working on other attacking options, including Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, meaning their pursuit of Ueda may not continue indefinitely if negotiations stall.

Despite the speculation, Ueda started Feyenoord's opening Eredivisie fixture against Sparta, helping his side secure a 1-0 victory.

The striker enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, finishing as the Eredivisie's top scorer with 25 league goals.
