Arsenal close to €41m Christos Tzolis signing from Club Brugge

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis in a deal worth more than €40 million.

The latest development represents a major step forward from the interest first reported last month. On 13 June, Football Place covered Arsenal’s pursuit of the Greece international when he was still one of several attacking options under consideration.

Now, according to Sky Deutschland, Arsenal are close to completing the transfer. The fee is reported to be around €41m.

Arsenal’s interest in Tzolis has developed rapidly in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old was initially viewed as one of several possible attacking additions as Mikel Arteta looked to strengthen his options ahead of the new season. Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola were also among the high-profile names linked with the Gunners.

Tzolis now appears to be much closer to an Emirates Stadium move.

The Greek international remains under contract with Club Brugge until 2029, meaning the Belgian club have been in a strong negotiating position. However, Arsenal are now reportedly prepared to pay around €41m to secure his signature.

That would represent a huge profit for Club Brugge.

They signed Tzolis from Fortuna Düsseldorf for just €6.5m in the summer of 2024.

Tzolis has developed into one of the most productive wide attackers in European football since rebuilding his career in Germany.

During the 2023/24 season, he registered 24 goals and ten assists in 37 competitive appearances for Fortuna Düsseldorf.

He then carried that form into Belgium.

Tzolis has now produced 43 goals and 45 assists in 108 appearances for Club Brugge. His combination of scoring and creativity helps explain why Arsenal have been prepared to move from initial interest towards a major financial commitment.

His versatility is another attraction. Tzolis can operate across the attacking line and would give Arteta another direct option capable of contributing goals.

When Football Place first covered Arsenal’s interest on 13 June, there was no agreement and no indication that negotiations were at an advanced stage.

At that point, Tzolis was still described as an emerging name on Arsenal’s shortlist, while the club continued to assess other expensive attacking targets.

The situation has now changed significantly.

If the latest reports are accurate, Arsenal have moved beyond simply monitoring Tzolis and are now close to securing a player whose value has risen dramatically over the last two years.

However, the transfer is not complete until official confirmation arrives from the clubs involved.

The next step will be confirmation of whether Arsenal and Club Brugge have finalised the transfer terms.

If the deal is completed, attention will turn to Tzolis’ role in Arteta’s attack and whether Arsenal continue pursuing other high-profile forwards. For now, the Gunners appear to have made significant progress on a player they were only exploring a move for less than a month ago.
