Arne Slot backs Mo Salah after Liverpool’s defeat to Fulham: “Mo will show up again

Liverpool fell to a 3-2 defeat away at Fulham, marking their first Premier League away loss of the season, and Mohamed Salah once again struggled to make an impact in front of goal.

Despite Salah’s impressive season tally of 32 goals across all competitions, he has now gone four matches without a goal contribution. However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot remains calm about the forward’s form and expressed confidence that Salah will bounce back.

"Maybe he should see it as a compliment [that people are talking about it] because his numbers were not normal [when he was scoring]. The good thing about Mo is he knows what kind of player he is. Mo will show up again, I don’t worry about that," Slot told BBC Sport.

The Reds had the chance to put significant distance between themselves and second-placed Arsenal, who drew 1-1 with Everton. Things started brightly when Alexis Mac Allister fired Liverpool ahead with a stunning goal early in the first half.

But costly mistakes proved fatal. Curtis Jones' mishit clearance allowed Ryan Sessegnon to equalise for Fulham, and Andy Robertson’s misplaced pass was punished by Alex Iwobi. Shortly after, Rodrigo Muniz got the better of Virgil van Dijk to score Fulham’s third.

Luis Diaz gave Liverpool hope with a late goal, but despite creating multiple chances late on, they couldn’t claw back an equaliser.

Reflecting on the defensive lapses, Slot said: “It's not often we concede three goals let alone in one game or 15 minutes. We could have prevented it. We scored a good goal but apart from that the second-half performance was much more what we’re like. Conceding three goals like we did is not of the standards of Liverpool. We were creating chance after chance after chance [towards the end]. In the end we lacked time to make up for the three mistakes we made in the first half.”
