Anthony Elanga has spoken for the first time since his £55 million move to Newcastle United from Nottingham Forest — and he's wasted no time making his feelings clear on teammate Alexander Isak.
The Sweden international became the Magpies’ first major signing in two years and is seen as a vital piece of Eddie Howe’s rebuild ahead of a demanding Champions League campaign.
And while rumours persist about Liverpool's interest in Alexander Isak, Elanga says the striker is “one of the best in the world” and hopes to link up with him long-term at club level — just as they have on the international stage.
Elanga: “We All Want to Play with Isak Next Season”
Elanga and Isak have made 12 appearances together for Sweden, though they are still waiting for their first joint goal contribution. That could soon change at St James’ Park.

The former Manchester United winger added that he already feels at home on Tyneside and is eager to get going under Eddie Howe.

Liverpool Want Isak – But Newcastle Stand Firm
Reports linking Liverpool with a move for Alexander Isak continue to circle, but there’s no indication Newcastle are prepared to sell. Isak is under a long-term contract and remains central to Howe’s plans.
Elanga’s public show of admiration may also signal how valued Isak is within the dressing room. Despite zero goal contributions together so far, the chemistry is building.
Analyst Verdict: Newcastle Finally Get a Win in the Market
With Joao Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo and Hugo Ekitike all choosing other clubs this summer, Elanga’s arrival is a much-needed boost for Newcastle. At 22, he brings pace, flair, and Premier League maturity.
And in a window full of near-misses, the signing of Elanga — and his desire to play with Isak — brings back some much-needed energy to Tyneside.
