Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Spurs following a week of deliberation by Daniel Levy, bringing a dramatic end to his 23-month tenure in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite delivering the club’s first trophy in over 17 years by winning the Europa League final against Manchester United, Postecoglou failed to inspire domestic consistency. Spurs slumped to 17th place in the Premier League, their lowest league finish since 1977, sparking major internal debate over his future.
Sources close to the club confirm that chairman Levy made the final decision late on Tuesday night after several days of high-level boardroom meetings.
Levy Decides to Act After Chaotic Season
Postecoglou’s first season ended in promise, but the second unravelled quickly. With injuries, tactical rigidity, and dressing room unrest reportedly playing a role, Levy ultimately decided a reset was needed heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham Record
While his spell started brightly with an attacking brand of football and vocal fan backing, Postecoglou’s inability to manage defensive lapses and the club’s alarming slide down the table proved too much.
Season | Achievement |

2023/24 | 5th in Premier League |
2024/25 | Europa League Winners, 17th in PL |
Who Could Replace Postecoglou?
With Spurs now in urgent need of a new manager, Brentford’s Thomas Frank is currently the leading candidate.
Levy is expected to move quickly, with pre-season looming and Champions League football back on the schedule.
What’s Next for Spurs?
Daniel Levy now begins the search for Tottenham’s fifth permanent manager since 2021. Despite European success, the club is once again in transition — and with big decisions looming over squad rebuilds, the next appointment may define the next era at Spurs.
