Arsenal’s Incoming Sporting Director Targets Matheus Cunha and Martin Zubimendi, with Major Move on the Horizon

Arsenal's future transfer plans are taking shape under the leadership of incoming Sporting Director Andrea Berta, who is reportedly focused on bringing in Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Gunners are also preparing to make a significant offer for another top target this summer.

Despite currently sitting 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool in second place, Arsenal has had a strong season. The club is still in the race to close the gap and continues to perform well in Europe, with a place in the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will face off against Real Madrid.

Cunha, who has been performing well at Wolves, has a release clause of £62.5million, while Zubimendi, a key player at Sociedad, has a buy-out clause set at €60million (£50.5m, $65.3m). These players are reportedly high on Arsenal’s wishlist as they aim to strengthen their squad in the coming transfer window.

And, according to GiveMeSport, Berta is determined to bring both Cunha and Zubimendi to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.

‘The Gunners have new sporting director Andrea Berta overseeing the incomings, and early indications show that he is intent on signing Matheus Cunha and Zubimendi – from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Real Sociedad respectively – in particular,’ states the report.

‘The creativity and goal threat of Cunha is needed, and the north Londoners will assess offers for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in the summer as part of their considerations regarding wide attacking options.’

Cunha has been a star for Wolves this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 24 Premier League starts.

Do you think signing Matheus Cunha and Martin Zubimendi would be the right move for Arsenal this summer? What other players should the Gunners target to strengthen their squad?
