Chelsea and Man United Locked in Garnacho Transfer Talks

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Manchester United are now locked in advanced talks for Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer. The Blues have confirmed a total package worth between £35–40 million, and are simply awaiting the final green light from Old Trafford.

The Argentine winger has made his stance clear — Garnacho only wants Chelsea. That pressure, combined with his standout season at United, has accelerated the process. Sources indicate that personal terms have already been discussed, with Chelsea prepared to hand the 20-year-old a significant long-term contract.

At Stamford Bridge, Garnacho is expected to sign a five-year deal running until June 2030, with the option of an extra year. His wages are set to rise considerably, with Chelsea preparing a salary in the region of £150,000 per week — more than double his current Manchester United package.

This move would represent Chelsea’s biggest attacking investment of the summer, and one that could change their front line dynamics under Enzo Maresca. But is Garnacho the missing spark Chelsea have been searching for?

Chelsea’s frontline has lacked consistency, with injuries and form leaving Maresca short of reliable wide options. Garnacho’s ability to play both flanks, his ball-carrying, and his high-intensity pressing align perfectly with the manager’s tactical demands.

With only Gittens as a right-winger still needs time to adapt in the Premier League and Chelsea wants depth for that position, the move for Garnacho looks both immediate reinforcement and long-term planning.

He added: “The key challenge will be how Garnacho adapts to Maresca’s positional discipline, given his natural tendency to roam and take risks. If the balance is struck, Chelsea could finally have the game-changer they’ve lacked since Eden Hazard.”

The expectation is that Chelsea will formally complete the deal before the transfer window closes. A medical in London is likely scheduled once Man United give their approval, with the official announcement pencilled in for early September.

For United, losing Garnacho would be a huge blow given their need for attacking output, but the club may see this as a chance to reinvest in a wider rebuild.
